Masasi-Mtwara Cooperative Union (MAMCU) is a cooperative union registered on 18 August 1995. It was formed when the former Mtwara Cooperative Union was split so that management could operate closer to members and handle growing volumes of produce more effectively.
MAMCU connects farmers with reliable markets for cashew nuts, sesame seeds, pigeon peas, groundnuts and green gram. Through member AMCOS, the union supports collection, quality management, storage and marketing under a transparent cooperative model.
Today MAMCU serves around 210 primary societies across Mtwara, Masasi and Nanyumbu. Public reporting has also highlighted investments such as modern warehouse capacity (including facilities linked to Ndwika / Nanyumbu) and logistics programmes that help move crops from farmgate to market more quickly.
Its work is guided by unity, transparency and sustainability, ensuring farmers receive fairer market access and dependable payment pathways.
MAMCU serves AMCOS in Mtwara, Masasi, Nanyumbu and neighbouring councils across southern Tanzania.
